Exposure to puppetry was a consequence of my interaction with a puppetry troupe - 'Curiosity Workshop'. Since my mother was a member of this troupe, I spent long hours helping them with their work, learning the entire process of creating a puppet from beginning to end. I developed an interest and went on to make a few puppets by myself.

PEETHO - THE PYTHON

A puppet python made out of scraps of cloth, cotton gauze and cardboard fork inserted into the slit of its throat.

This allows the python to be manouvered easily as a hand puppet. Cotton gauze and scrap cloth were also used to fill up the body of 'peetho' that was finally stitched to give form to its body.

Dimensions - 4ft 4" long and max radius of 3".

HILDA

A friendly witch made out of thermocol, strips of colored paper, hatched scraps of cloth, buttons and cardboard.

Currently used as a prop suspended from a string.

Dimensions - 15" tall , armspan - 7".
