Readings

A catalogue of relevant and meaningful books I have read over 2004 - 2006.

Business/Marketing          Entertainment Industry          Miscellaneous

INTERACTIVE STORYTELLING - ANDREW GLASSNER

This book provides a fantastic peak into contemporary media and entertainment. Andrew Glassner does a tremendous job in addressing fundamental structural issues in games and movies, often not covered in existing game design literature.

Makes one ponder over the possibilites that result from the marriage of new technology and traditional storytelling to propel the development of interactive entertainment into the future.

FILM ART - AN INTRODUCTION, DAVID BORDWELL, KRISTIN THOMPSON

A textbook for my first film class. Proved effective in not following the traditional method of teaching film art through a close analysis of individual films.

Straightforward and instructional in dissecting the complexities of filmmaking, narrative, form and technique.

CINEMATOGRAPHY - THEORY & PRACTISE, BLAIN BROWN

Insightful in that it acknowledges that professionals know when to break the rules and when to abide by them. This via fresh examples to illustrate concepts and experiments with modern cinematography.

A read that presents the basics of professional cinematography and beyond.
